Without spoiling anything, the castle settlement is uninhabited, and while you can fast travel to it, it is abandoned and does not function as the other settlements do. There will be no missions available there and it simply acts as a location to progress the story. That's why it would be greyed out.

  • The castle has been grayed out this whole time and I can't seem to progress to get it to be out of the "destroyed" state. Im seeing this is a bug but only for consoles, Im a PC player. Its not a bug, its part of the story. It was bombed, you aren't able to restore it like the other 2 settlements.

There hasn't been any plans to bring the Caste Settlement back into action, it's been mentioned on SOTG a couple of times. It's simply an inactive settlement. It features briefly in the Broken Dawn novel, which sheds some light on what happened; but beyond that it is supposed to remain inactive.

For starters, there is a bug associated with this location. Players wouldn’t be able to do the story mission related to it or were locked out afterward. Thankfully, that bug has been fixed in a recent patch. But the problem is, the Castle Settlement is still gray for many players on the world map.

The Castle Settlement, still Grayed out????? Question. Close. 1. Posted by 1 year ago. Archived. The Castle Settlement, still Grayed out????? Question. So I'm Lv 24 and the Castle is still gray for me. Is it a bug or is it supposed to stay empty? I did notice that the Stronghold to the very West is BLUE and is accessible. I'm just trying to figure out if this is as intended. Cant seem to find a straight answer anywhere. 7 comments . share. save. hide ...

Its not a settlement, like Theatre/Campus is. As in, you can't contribute to it and build it up. If you're paying attention to dialogue for the missions related to the Castle, you'll learn that the First Sons basically nuked the settlement with the virus through a mortar strike. So its effectively, not viable to live in anymore :)

I’ve done the missions involving the Castle, but it’s still greyed out and nothing to do. I’ve been saving some gear to donate to the other settlement but so far the Theatre and Castle are the only 2 I’ve come across, I’ve got the Theatre fully done, and it doesn’t let you do anything to the Castle. 19 comments. share. save. hide. report. 94% Upvoted. For some reason I cannot send my followers to the castle settlement when I dismiss them. I can send them everywhere else, just not the Castle (the Castle appears on the list but is grayed out). I want to make the castle my main settlement and I want to be able to send my followers there. Also, the castle has 18 people at it which I don't think ...

For your info: the Castle is not like other settlements in that you don't have projects there, you don't upgrade it. So once unlocked, it's stays grey. There's only a cutscene to activate I think and then you never go back. 1
